LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. — Local organizations dedicated to rescuing and caring for horses and dogs have an opportunity to receive up to $10,000 in grant funding.

The Community Foundation of the Lake is accepting applications for the Karen Jean Rudek Grant Round, offering grants ranging from $500 to $10,000 to eligible nonprofits in Camden, Miller, and Morgan counties.

Funding is specifically designated for horse and dog shelters, sanctuaries, and rescue facilities. Grant money cannot be used for salaries, utilities, or rent.

The grant round is funded through the Karen Jean Rudek Trust, which established a fund with CFL to provide ongoing support for local animal welfare organizations.

The fund is structured as an endowment, meaning its principal is invested and a portion of its value is distributed through grants each year. This allows Rudek's legacy of supporting animals to continue benefiting local organizations for generations.

Applications will be accepted through Oct. 29, 2026. Eligible nonprofits can apply through the "Find Grants" section of the Community Foundation of the Ozarks website.

For questions about the grant opportunity, contact David Boyd at 417-569-9880.
