An evening of paddling that ended under a full moon left 60 kayakers a bit tuckered out, but undoubtedly enjoying the second annual Osage Howler Kayak Race on June 30.

The 61-mile stretch begins at Bagnell Dam and ends at Pike’s Creek.  Racers had the option to paddle a shorter, 14-mile stretch of the Osage River or the full 61-mile (thankfully with the current!) race.

Of course, every race has its winners! Chris VanMeter had the overall fastest time for the 14-mile race, clocking in at exactly 2 hours. In the 61-mile race, Dan Frish won with a time of 9:04:30.
