LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. — Hughes Marine has already made waves at Lake of the Ozarks by launching Centurion, the brand that confidently says they make, “The Best Wake Surf Boats In The World.”
“Wake Surf families have come into the new showroom (in Osage Beach) and said, ‘I’ve done the research, I know I want to buy a Centurion, we’re really happy you guys are here!” said Mike Peek, director of operations for the Osage Beach store.
A recent award just helps underscore the point: Hughes won Missouri Magazine's "Best of Summer 2024" award, which celebrates reader-favorite businesses across Missouri that specialize in making summer awesome. Hughes and Centurion certainly fit the bill.

So, how exactly did Centurion make it to Lake of the Ozarks?
It all started with owner Kyle Hughes’ love for Lake of the Ozarks in his youth. He grew up vacationing here with his family, and from those early days grew a strong desire to one day work in the marine industry.
Later he and his high school sweetheart, Dana, discovered Table Rock Lake and set their hearts on creating a future together in southwest Missouri.
First, their adventure led them from their hometown of Bedford, Iowa, to Orlando, Florida, where they both studied. Kyle earned a degree and trained in Marine technology and mechanics while Dana worked toward her nursing career.
They then returned to the Midwest in order for Kyle to work-mentor under some of the best mechanics in the industry during his two-year internship, while Dana completed her nursing degree.
The couple settled down in Kimberling City -- the Table Rock area -- in 2011 and began to grow their family with Dana joining the business full time after working as a nurse in the Branson area.
Since 2015, the couple has worked non-stop to establish themselves in the Ozarks and fulfill their dream of creating a unique customer-first marine institution, constructing a first-class shop and opening the doors of Hughes Marine in the heart of the Table Rock Lake boating community.
“We follow a very simple principal: Take care of people and their boats,” Hughes said of his humble beginnings. “After a while we just had the reputation for fixing boats, taking care of customers and doing things right.”
As the business grew, so did the team. Kyle has continued to grow a tight-knit, talented, and hard working crew providing service, support, sales, and a pro shop (surf boards, Marine Mat, fiberglass repair and paint, and more).
The success of the business allowed for growth and movement into more areas of the marine industry.
Already a dealer for Centurion and Supreme Wake Surf Boats — and Four Winns — at Table Rock Lake, Kyle heard both an internal calling and continual request from customers to expand to the place where his love of boating began – Lake of the Ozarks.
Centurion jumped at the opportunity to have Hughes Marine represent them here.
So, after years of selling boats to die-hard Centurion lovers at Lake of the Ozarks out of their Table Rock location, this year marks the beginning of a new adventure for Hughes Marine, to scale further an already successful business model built on personal service and knowledge of Wake Sports.
“I’ve been in every Wake Surf boat, and Centurion is in a class by itself for families serious about Wake Sports,” Hughes said.
That may be subjective, but there’s no denying that Centurion has tough competition within its own parent company, Correct Craft, which also makes Nautique and Supreme, huge names in the Wake Sports world.
Visitors to the Osage Beach showroom will also find Supreme on display.
