A Trump Boat Parade dubbed “Trumptilla” on Lake Murray, South Carolina last weekend brought an estimated 3,417 boats and more than 30,000 people: numbers that organizers say may have broken a boat parade world record.

Lake of the Ozarks had its own Trump parade on June 14, and it brought a sizeable number of sizeable boats, but the Trumptilla event on July 5 dwarfed it. According to a press release from event organizers, a third-party firm was used to compile the attendance numbers; they utilized drone footage, aerial photography, and GIS analytics to do so.

“The idea started after organizer, Jason Cline, saw a post about the Charleston, SC Trump Boat Parade,” read a press release sent out by Cline. “He put up a simple Facebook event page and overnight the event had over 2000 people interested. Final numbers had over 7500 saying they were coming or going. But even those numbers were off by 20,000+.”

“It was just incredible to see so many people turn out in support of President Trump,” Cline enthused. “With all of the negative news of COVID-19 and the burning, looting and violence that came with the protests, people wanted something positive that we could rally around. We had no idea we would receive such an overwhelmingly positive response.”

According to Guinness Book Of World Records, the world’s largest parade of boats was 1,180 boats at a parade in Malaysia, per the screenshot from Guinness website search results, below. However, the page for that result returns a 404 (Page Not Found) error. It may be that the page soon portrays the Lake Murray Trumptilla as the new record for “Largest parade of boats.”
