LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. – The buzz word for boat gas this holiday week is “volatility.” So, get it while it’s hot. Marina gas dropped 20 cents Friday. Where it goes next is anyone’s guess, but if it follows the major bounce in crude oil Friday, prices could go back up as quickly as they came down.
The takeaway: Fill up right now, it’s the lowest price of the season and just in time for the nine-day Fourth of July boating celebration at the Midwest’s No. 1 Powerboating destination.
Marina owners report a 7-cent difference between Thursday’s wholesale price and Friday morning. One marina owner reported a 13 cent shift in four days last week.
Village Marina (3MM) maneuvered into the No. 1 spot for cheap boat gas on Friday at $3.699. King’s Pointe (39MM Purvis Cove) has matched the lowest price at $3.69 and driven it down to $3.49 per gallon with a cash and quantity discount, by far the cheapest gas on the Lake.
Kelly’s Port Marina has the least expensive Premium 93 Octane at $4.09 per gallon, followed closely by Formula Marina (Glaize 1MM) and Lake Shores Marina (8MM) at $4.19.
Kelly’s Port is also carries the lowest rate on diesel at $3.79 per gallon.

U.S. Gulf Coast gasoline differentials got a boost from increased buying on Friday before the Fourth of July holiday, when market activity is expected to be slow, traders say.
In the Midwest, Group Three gasoline fell 1.50 cents a gallon, on top of its 6.50-cent drop on Thursday, as trade against the July futures contract on the New York Mercantile Exchange winded down.

NYMEX August crude jumped to a session high of $84.05, up $6.36, or 8.19 percent, the biggest one-day percentage gain for front-month U.S. crude since Feb. 22, 2011.
