Boat gas bounces

LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. – It had to happen sometime. Boat gas bounced this week, holding the average steady at $3.99, but showing signs of ticking up 10 cents. Some marinas taking wholesale deliver on Friday already raised prices.

As the only consolation, the price of diesel fuel has detached to the down side to the joy of some cruiser owners. Toad Cove Marina has the cheapest diesel around at $3.78 per gallon.

Formula remains the gas deal king, selling 87 Octane for $3.639 and premium 93 for $4.19.

As the marinas near the 31MM raise to $4.09, Pier 31 is selling gas for $3.80 per gallon to anyone who volunteers to take an active military family for a boat cruise during Troop Appreciation Day beginning at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 16. Boaters are still needed to entertain a total of 161 active military persons spouses and children. Come dock at Pier 31 before 1 p.m. to show the troops you care and appreciate the sacrifices they make by taking them on a fun boat ride. Pack some extras in your cooler and make it happen.

CRUDE & GAS

Friday on the New York Mercantile Exchange, July crude settled down 72 cents, or 0.85 percent, at $84.10 a barrel. For the week, it rose 87 cents, or 1.05 percent, snapping five straight weeks of losses.

NYMEX July RBOB gasoline futures finished up 0.02 cent, or 0.01 percent, at $2.6852 a gallon. For the week, it rose 2.82 cents, or 1.06 percent, after dropping 8.16 percent in the week to June 1.
