STOCKTON LAKE, Mo. — Two boaters jumped from their vessel in the nick of time, in a crash that sank a fishing boat, but—incredibly—left everyone uninjured.

The crash happened on Friday afternoon, Aug. 11, around 2:30 p.m. on Stockton Lake, northwest of Springfield, Mo. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Curtis Stroud, 47, of Overland Park, Kan., was driving a 24-foot Four Winns southbound but was distracted and collided with a 16-foot fishing boat. The fishing boat was driven by 36-year-old Brandon Hensley, of Kansas City, Mo.

Hensley and the other occupant of the boat saw the crash coming, according to the Patrol, and jumped into the water before the two boats collided. The fishing boat then broke in half. No injuries were reported, and the Patrol says Stroud stopped and helped the two boaters who were in the water after the crash.

The fishing boat was totally destroyed, according to the report, and the Four Winns sustained minor damage.
