LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. — A boater’s quick action likely kept a bad situation from getting worse, last weekend.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, on Saturday, April 16, 52-year-old James Hevel was piloting a 2002 Envision eastbound around the 13 Mile Marker of the Lake of the Ozarks, when the engine compartment caught fire.
Hevel was able to extinguish the fire, and there were no injuries as a result. The boat, however, suffered extensive damage and was towed to shore by Deer Valley Marina.
