Owning a boat at Lake of the Ozarks comes with experiences that you’ll find nowhere else. But it also comes with its own unique set of challenges.
You know the drill. You’ve got the dock and the boat and the lift. But your dock accumulates an array of accessories, toys, gadgets, tools. Safely storing them requires copious amounts of bungee cords, or trips back and forth from the dock the house. Ditto all the things you need for the boat outing: the towels and sunscreen and bags and extra t-shirts and lifejackets and… the list goes on. More trips from the house to the dock. Bright side: you’re getting your “steps” in for the day.
But there’s a better way, and that better way even comes in a nearly endless variety of color options. It’s a dock box or locker: specifically one from B&B Composites.

Locally owned, B&B Composites started building their popular fiberglass dock boxes and dock lockers in 2020. Owners Ben Krokson (of Above & Beyond Roofing) and Ben Boercker bought the one-of-a-kind holds from a dock locker company that had been operating at the Lake for years. That allows them to build dock boxes that have already proven themselves. In fact, some condos on Lake of the Ozarks will only allow dock slip owners to install B&B’s unique vertical dock lockers on their docks.
All of B&B Composites’ boxes and lockers are constructed of thick, molded fiberglass and they are gel-coated with any color you like, to match other dock accessories like your Wet Steps, swim platform, or dock furniture. The horizontal boxes—ideal for tossing the swim toys, wakeboards, etc. inside—come in three different sizes. The vertical lockers—suited for keeping towels on shelves and lifejackets hanging—come in two sizes.

“They’re made just like a boat,” Boercker said, explaining the fiberglass construction. “They’re durable. They last forever. There’s not a lot really that can go wrong with them.”
B&B Composites has been getting plenty of feedback from boaters who love their dock boxes and lockers, Boercker said, with many commenting how consistent and sturdy the box’s construction is. “We try to make them extra thick,” he said.
Boercker got into the fiberglass business by building custom replacement parts for his hobby: stand-up jet skis. As he mastered the trade, he and Krokson saw an opportunity to grow a fiberglass fabrication business right here at Lake of the Ozarks. In addition to the dock boxes and lockers, they also build custom boat parts for everything from Bajas to sailing yachts. They’ve even recently invented a creative fiberglass solution for custom pool-builders.
But their bread and butter is the dock box/locker. And boaters who want one for the 2022 boating season would be wise to act now. Orders placed now will be ready for installation in four to six weeks. And no matter what the weatherman says, boating season is just around the corner.
