MACKS CREEK, Mo. — In the rolling hills near Lake of the Ozarks, the crack of the bat can be heard echoing from spring through fall, as tournament players pour in to Ballparks National.
This was the first full year for the destination baseball/softball complex, and General Manager Jeff Vernetti says it has so far been wildly successful. Spring and fall tournaments averaged about 3/4ths capacity, with many being sold-out. And the fall season has just arrived.

Ballparks National’s appeal is multifaceted. It’s only a half-day drive (or less) from a large number of major Midwestern cities, whose residents are already accustomed to making the Friday-afternoon trip down to Lake of the Ozarks throughout the summer. It sits near one of the Midwest’s most popular recreational destinations. Thanks to the Lake’s supporting economy, visitors can find ample lodging, dining, and opportunities for fun in between games. And the state-of-the-art, all-turf fields are designed to be playable through the Midwest’s notoriously unpredictable weather conditions.
“They can take several inches of rain in an hour, and be playable in minutes,” Vernetti said. That means more playing time for young baseball and softball teams.
As families, team organizers, and coaches across the Midwest are looking for fall tournaments, Vernetti pitches Ballparks National as a must-hit location. The themed weekend events always include fun activities for kids and adults to enjoy when they’re not on the field. Among them: That 70’s Tourney (Sept. 25), OktoberSlugFest (Oct. 9), Send‘em Home For Early Christmas (Oct. 23), and Witches Be Trippin’ (Oct. 31).
Because of the general popularity of the Lake of the Ozarks, Ballparks National also has made its spring and summer 2022 schedule available early. Some teams had difficulty find rooms for events surrounding the summer holiday weekends, and the early schedule availability helps teams plan and secure lodging early. "There are many other sports complexes, but we hope that we are a 'must play' site when teams are putting their schedules together. We’re confident their families will love that they chose BPN and the Lake of the Ozarks as one of their destinations," Vernetti added.

What Others Are Saying About BPN
"Great experience! Turf fields and dugouts are perfect! Concession stand and bar are the best around and the staff was friendly!"
"This ballpark was a great place for a tournament! Wonderful food, clean, friendly, and beautiful ballfields."
"Ballparks National does it right! We were in for a baseball tournament last weekend and had a wonderful time! The food is amazing and the staff is super friendly! The pretzel is huge, the Bloody Mary is a meal, the chicken tenders are perfect! My kids wanted to go back to the ballpark for lunch instead of fast food (which says a lot)! The restrooms and overall facilities are immaculate. Wonderful place for a tournament and we hope to go back again next season!"
"Our team Smithville Storm traveled down for a get-away tournament. Being a tournament team in the Kansas City area I can tell you I have high expectations when I head to a complex I’ve never been to as a coach. Ball Parks National didn’t disappoint. From the check-in to the last time, we walked out of the complex I was pleased. The grounds were phenomenal and well taken care of especially for a first-year complex. I know that the complex is still growing and construction is not yet completed and I took that into consideration. During our games, we had some quality umpires who were always friendly and seemed to know how to umpire the game.
The food at the concessions was delicious especially the pork nachos. The staff were friendly and made us feel like we had been coming there forever.
The only thing I wish is that the complex could accommodate 14U teams as we have to move up age divisions and have already outgrown the complex. Now, I’ve heard that some full-size fields are in the future plans possibly and could guarantee we would be back if that was the case. Anyways, I would highly recommend Ball Parks National to any team."
