MILLER COUNTY, Mo. — A School Of The Osage teacher is facing two felony charges after law enforcement says he confessed to sexually abusing a student while on a field trip.
According to the Miller County Sheriff’s Office and probable cause document for the arrest, Mark A. Edwards is charged with First Degree Statutory Sodomy (Class A Felony) and First Degree Endangering The Welfare Of A Child (Class E Felony).
Authorities say the female victim, who is under the age of 14, was interviewed earlier this year at Kids’ Harbor, where she said her teacher had touched her in ways that made her feel uncomfortable. According to the Miller County Sheriff’s Office detective who investigated the case, a review of security camera footage confirmed that the teacher had been sitting next to the victim and had his hands under a coat that was over her legs.
The arresting document states that Edwards confessed to sexually assaulting the girl.
Edwards is being held on $300,000 bond.
