Joseph Perry Rice IV

MILLER COUNTY, Mo. — A local principal is charged with a sex crime against one of his former students.

According to the Miller County Sheriff’s Office, Joseph Perry Rice IV is charged with Class C Misdemeanor Sexual Misconduct in the 2nd Degree and was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 27. Rice is currently the K-12 principal at Climax Springs R-IV school district, in Camden County.

The probable cause statement for Rice’s arrest states that a female juvenile spoke to Kids Harbor advocates in December of 2017, and later told Miller County deputies that Rice began flirting with her on Snapchat in May of 2017. She was a former student of Rice’s, when he taught at Miller County R-III schools. She claimed Rice told her via Snapchat that “he could use his tongue well,” and says he requested she send him nude photos of herself.

According to the PC document, the girl told authorities Rice threatened her in a nonspecific way and called her names, so she sent him multiple photos of her bare breast and buttox. She says Rice then sent her multiple photos of his penis, though she did not ask him to. She also told authorities Rice sent her a message on Snapchat in September of 2017 asking to pick her up from her school softball game and saying he wanted to have sex with her, according to the document. She says she ceased communications with Rice after that.

Rice was arrested, with a bond of $2,000.
