MILLER COUNTY, Mo. — The apparent suicide of a female inmate in Miller County Jail is currently under investigation.
The Miller County Sheriff’s Office says 43-year-old Dawn Howell, of Arnold, Mo. was discovered by a sheriff’s office employee the evening of Oct. 13, 2020 at the Miller County Jail where she was incarcerated. Howell had been charged with 2nd Degree Burglary and misdemeanor Stealing on Oct. 3; she also had a drug-possession charge from May 7, 2020.
No further details about Howell's death were provided.
According to Miller County Sheriff Louie Gregoire, his office has requested assistance from the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Troop F Investigative Unit. An autopsy is being conducted at the Boone County Medical Examiner’s office. The investigation is ongoing.
