The Lake of the Ozarks Idiots Club has reached a major milestone, surpassing $2 million in support for local children and youth living in poverty.

The organization said its first $5,000 in youth assistance was distributed during the 2014-2015 school year. Since then, volunteers, donors, businesses, and school partners have helped grow that total to $2 million.

The dollar that pushed the organization over the milestone went toward clothing for a student at Macks Creek School.

The Idiots Club currently serves students in five area school districts: Climax Springs, Eldon, Camdenton, Osage Beach, and Macks Creek.

LOTOIC co-founders Denny and Danna Heiner credited Executive Directors Max and Kelly, along with the organization’s volunteers, for helping expand the group’s reach.

“Reaching $2,000,000 in youth support — all driven by volunteers and reinvested right back into our community — is a magnificent achievement,” the Heiners said. “You are the ultimate ‘framily,’ and we are so grateful for your unwavering dedication to local youth.”
