LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. — Captain Ron’s Bar & Grill, home of the Shootout, is now the new home of AquaPalooza, set for July 17, 2021.
The Lake of the Ozarks massive music event on the water has traditionally been held at Dog Days Bar & Grill. It was cancelled in 2020, and this year, Benne Media — which organizes the event — was working on a venue and date change. Word got out that the new location would be Toad Cove, in late-June — where H. Toad’s and Shady Gators sit on opposite sides of the cove. “We’ve been producing the event since 2012 without incident at other locations and felt like this site made sense as we could draw on the manpower of both Shady Gators and Camden on the Lake,” said Denny Benne, of Benne Media. However, after lengthy discussions, the Missouri State Highway Patrol denied the necessary regatta permit for that location. The Patrol was concerned about the busyness of that location, and worried the event could cause safety issues.
So organizers looked to Captain Ron’s, which is accustomed to hosting large crowds, as it draws many thousands every year for the annual Shootout boat races in late-August. The Patrol has given a verbal commitment to approve a regatta permit for that location, Benne Media said in an announcement on Monday, so AquaPalooza fans can begin to plan: Captain Ron’s, on July 17.
Benne added, “It takes everyone to ensure safety and make a great event including Water Patrol, fire departments, police and ambulances and we appreciate their efforts.”
