LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. – Sanctioned Kilo races are coming to the 35th Annual Shootout this year, a huge draw for powerboaters who will have the chance to set internationally recognized speed titles.
On Sunday Aug. 27, American Power Boat Association members and classes will take off between buoys on a two-way course that measures the average speed of racers. Run time is limited, so it is first-come, first-serve between 1:30-4:30 p.m. Participants can register here.
The Shootout has partnered with Union Internationale Motonautique and the APBA to put on the sanctioned Kilo races for this year's event. Shootout Director Leah Martin told Lake Expo she's thrilled about the addition, and she expects it to draw even more powerboaters to the one-of-a-kind weekend event. The Shootout main event still keeps its "unsanctioned" status with the Kilo addition, but the Kilo races themselves will be sanctioned.
