One of the biggest stories of 2017 was the purchase of the historic Tan-Tar-A Resort by Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville resort brand.

This year, visitors to the transitioning resort will feel the casual, nautical Margaritaville vibe beginning to take over, as the resort’s restaurants—now rebranded—welcome guests, and renovated rooms bring a feel-good, breezy style to the iconic Lake of the Ozarks resort.

“In the next couple of months, our guests will see some distinct changes to Tan-Tar-A,” said Ann Walters, Director of Sales for the property. She says guests and the Lake community have been enthusiastic about the changeover, and guests in 2018 will enjoy plenty of improvements. Among them:

—Floor-to-ceiling renovations in Buildings E and C’s spacious guest rooms.

—Renovations in Buildings A, B, D and the Windrose Building, adding touches of Margaritaville.

The new flagship, waterfront restaurant—Landshark Bar & Grill—is still in the planning stages, but Walters says the other restaurants will reopen by Memorial Day. The most buzz has been about the former Black Bear Lodge, which is reopening as JB’s Boathouse Grill. “The restaurant has a nautical theme, with bright blues and crisp whites,” Walters said. She added, “JB's Boathouse Bar will offer 12 beers on tap, featuring LandShark Lager, local brews, and the classic favorites. JB's Boathouse Grill will be open for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner year-round.”

What some have called the resort’s best-kept secret, the Windrose Restaurant will reopen as Windrose Marker 26 Lakeside Dining. Fans of Windrose will be happy to hear the restaurant will continue to set a high bar for Lake-area fine-dining. “Great food, an incredible view of the Lake, and a staff that is well-versed in the art of customer service,” Walters enthused. “Guests are welcome to boat over and dock at Tan-Tar-A’s Marina at the 26 Mile Marker.” The Windrose Marker 26 will be open seven days a week, Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Guests will enjoy Frank & Lola’s Pizzeria & Billiards too (formerly The Food Court), with a simple menu of pizza, wings, sandwiches, and salads, 12 beers on tap, and plenty of leisurely fun too: six pool tables, two dart boards, shuffleboard, pinball, and arcade games. A new Tiki Bar at the Arrowhead Pool will be another taste of Margaritaville’s tropical feel.

Walters also reminds golfers that the Oaks Restaurant is renovated too, with a new deck to enjoy a cool beverage after a good (or frustrating) round (or two) of golf.
