LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. — Flooding made low crossings impassable and washed out roads across the Lake of the Ozarks region on Sunday.
Some residents reported up to 7 inches of rain fell throughout the day, with the majority of it coming in the early morning hours. The deluge devastated gravel roads across the region, with county road workers being called out to begin grading impassable areas on Sunday.
LakeExpo readers shared photos of dangerously flooded bridges and low water crossings.
The Lake of the Ozarks' water level began to rise quickly, at around 9 a.m. on Sunday. Bagnell Dam operators used the floodgates to try and manage the water inflows, but the Lake still briefly rose above 660 feet of elevation — considered the "full pool" standard. Between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. the Lake was slightly above 660, before dropping down to 659.98 around 8 p.m.
Additional showers with possible hail were forecast from Sunday night through Monday across the region.
