The Grand Auglaize Bridge, commonly known as the “Brumley Swinging Bridge”, has been officially named to the Missouri Preservation’s 2021 Places in Peril List.
Lake of the Ozarks Council of Local Governments (LOCLG) nominated the Grand Auglaize Bridge for the annual list of Missouri’s Places in Peril in August 2021. On October 20, 2021, Missouri Preservation announced during their “UnHappy Hour” event that this historical Brumley Swinging Bridge has been officially included on the Missouri 2021 Places in Peril list. Missouri Preservation promotes awareness of Missouri’s threatened historic places by releasing this annual list, and advocates to help build support for the preservation efforts.
LOCLG and the “Save the Historical Brumley Swinging Bridge” organization hopes this announcement will encourage funding opportunities and donations from foundations as well as private donors. The “Save the Historical Brumley Swinging Bridge,” is a not-for-profit organization intended to facilitate advocacy and fundraising efforts for the Grand Auglaize Bridge.
