CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. — A 25-year-old Illinois man has posted bond after a high-speed chase in Lake Ozark led to multiple charges last weekend.

On Aug. 30, a Camden County Sheriff's Office Deputy was in pursuit of a white Corvette allegedly going 139 mph on Highway 54, which was a posted 65 mph zone. The vehicle continued to flee, drawing more law enforcement onto Highway 242.

Stalled traffic at Bagnell Dam Blvd forced the Corvette to stop fleeing however. The driver, Cole Whicker, was forcefully taken into custody.

Later at the Camden County jail, Deputy Sean Lackey conducted a DWI investigation. He reported that Whicker failed multiple field sobriety tests, where he swayed heavily and couldn't focus his eyes.

"Based on the clues from the above tests and his aggravated fleeing from law enforcement at dangerous speeds, I believed him to be under the influence," Deputy Lackey said in the probable cause statement. A warrant allowed two vials of Whicker's blood to be seized.

Whicker was then transported to the hospital, during which he allegedly "boasted about how much money he had and how fast his car was. Cole showed no remorse and took no accountability for his poor decisions and putting the public at risk," explained Deputy Lackey.

A $75,000 surety bond was set on Whicker, which he later posted on Sept. 1. He faces two charges: Aggravated Fleeing and DWI. Whicker is set to appear before court on Oct. 7.
