CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. — A bus bringing 39 children to church camp at Lake of the Ozarks overturned on Monday evening, injuring 14. All of the injuries were minor, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The Patrol reported the school bus, driven by 56-year-old Elizabeth Boevers, of Tulsa, Okla., overturned after failing to negotiate a curve on the winding State Route AA. The group was on their way to Windermere Baptist Conference Center, from The Church at BattleCreek in Broken Arrow, Okla. Thirteen of the children were taken by ambulance with minor injuries—in a Facebook post, the church said those were “bumps, bruises and scrapes.” The Patrol says one child was flown to Mercy Hospital via Staff for Life. The church noted that child had bumped his head during the crash, and the Patrol did categorize that child’s injuries as “minor” as well. All of the other children were taken to Lake Regional Hospital.
