The Shootout Street Party: Here's Where To Park & What To Know

  • Updated
  • 1 min to read

The Shootout Street Party hits the Bagnell Dam Strip on Wednesday, Aug. 26, and it's an event like no other. Powerboats line the iconic Strip in Lake Ozark, with thousands of people walking among them, enjoying the sights, sounds, and many vendor booths selling boat-matching swag.

But with the Strip shut down to vehicles and that many people headed in one direction, traffic and parking can get... pretty interesting.

If you can take an Uber, that's often a good idea. But if you're planning on driving and parking, here's what to know. (See the official parking map, below.)

1. Admission

Admission to the Street Party is free!

Open container will be allowed from 4-10 p.m., but wristbands are required for adult beverages. You can obtain a wristband at the entrance.

2. The Traffic

It's real.

Bagnell Dam Boulevard gets backed up, as does Highway 242, and the intersection at Horseshoe Bend Parkway is pretty gnarly. So if you're skipping the event, you might want to avoid that area for awhile. But if you're headed there, plan to sit in slow-moving traffic. It's been known to back up to MarineMax and beyond.

3. The Road Closures

• Bagnell Dam Blvd will be closed from 8:00 a.m. to 11 p.m. from School Road to the Dam.

• For traffic, a detour will be provided around Valley Road.

• School of the Osage parents will need to use the detour for pick up if they're coming from or to the North Shore area.

4. The Parking

• Designated parking areas are set up for Street Party attendees.

• Some attendees find a place to park in business parking lots along the Boulevard, but make sure to avoid taking up spaces in businesses that are still open. If you park there, you'll be walking a ways.

• There are many designated parking lots, with parking available for $20 and VIP Parking for $50.

• $20 Parking areas include The Toy Box (transport to the Strip included), Christ The King Lutheran Church, Heritage Elementary School (5 p.m. – 10 p.m. only), Lake Ozark Christian Church, and the campground parking below the dam.

• Early Childhood Center will offer handicap parking for $20.

• $50 VIP Parking areas are at both ends of the Strip road closure and include Two Bit Town and the lot across the street from Neon Taco

5. The Good Times

...last into well after dark. And really it's right at dusk that the boats look their best, so make sure to stick around!

Be safe coming and going, and always designate a sober driver!
