It's a rare instance where the sequel is even better than the original.
Iron Man II, a brand new 39-foot Doug Wright Powerboats catamaran, will be on display at the Shootout on the Strip, Wednesday Aug. 26. And this is one you have to see to believe.
The boat is powered by twin Mercury Racing 500R outboards, and Doug Wright Powerboats owner Justin Wagner told SpeedOnTheWater.com the boat handles like a dream. But even more impressive than its expected 140mph speed is the boat's superhero customization.
Wagner's team at Waves & Wheels built their first Iron Man boat in the early 2010s: a Hustler/Talon 377 got an extreme makeover by Wagner and his elite team.
Since then, Wagner told LakeExpo, he's been on the lookout for another boat to give the Iron Man treatment to. When he showed pictures of the original Iron Man to a customer looking for a custom DWR boat, Frank and Judy Bahin's response told him this was the moment.
Now, Wagner is bringing the Bahins' superhero superboat to the most unique powerboat event in the nation.
Iron Man II will be on display on The Strip, Wednesday night. TBD if fans will see it running the race course on Saturday.
