LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. – Boaters couldn't have asked for a better day on the water as the Lake celebrated the end of another fantastic season with the annual Fall Harbor Hop on Saturday, Oct.10.
With beautiful weather and sunshine, the event welcomed 2,287 hoppers to wrap up the boating season with a poker run.
The Harbor Hop is a popular tradition that brings boaters together for a day of fun, exploring the Lake and visiting participating waterfront restaurants and marinas. Participants travel along the Main Channel, Big Niangua Arm, and the Gravois Arm, collecting playing cards in hopes of building a winning hand and taking home prizes.
"Having 2,287 hoppers participate is a great turnout, and shows just how much people love getting out on the water at the Lake," said Heather Brown, Executive Director of the Lake of the Ozarks Convention & Visitor Bureau. "One of the things that makes our destination so special is the ability to enjoy boating well into the fall. The Harbor Hop is a great opportunity to visit our incredible waterfront restaurants and marinas, enjoy the beautiful scenery, and celebrate everything that makes Lake of the Ozarks such a special destination."
The two annual Harbor Hop events mark the beginning and end of boating season at the Lake. The Spring hop is typically held the first weekend of May to kick off summer, while the Fall hop takes place the second weekend of October to extend the season past Labor Day and showcase the beauty of autumn.Â
The Lake of the Ozarks Convention & Visitor Bureau sponsors both events, with additional support from the Lake of the Ozarks Marine Dealers Association and participating waterfront restaurants and marinas.
While the Fall Harbor Hop signals an end to boating for the year, the fun doesn't stop at the Lake! From fall foliage and scenic hiking trails to championship golf courses, waterfront dining, shopping, and year-round attractions, the Lake offers something for everyone in every season.
