Obituary of Rose Marie "Midge" Hilker
Rose Marie “Midge” Hilker, age 90, of Stover, formerly of Kansas City, Missouri and Laurie, passed away Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at Bristol Manor in Stover. She was born November 13, 1929, in Durango, Colorado, the daughter of the late Arthur and Rose (Stoddard) Oakes.
On July 8, 1951, in Independence, she was united in marriage to William W. Hilker, who preceded her in death on December 17, 2012.
Midge was the director of the School of Nursing at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri for many years until her retirement.
She was a member of the West Lake Christian Church in Laurie, the American Legion Auxiliary in Sunrise Beach, the Lady Elks in Laurie and the Red Hat Club for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading.
The family would like to thank Bristol Manor for the loving care their mother and grandmother received.
She is survived by her children, Christine Ronkoski of Versailles and James F. Hilker of Linn Creek; grandchildren, David Ronkoski and wife Jessica, Matthew Ronkoski and wife Amanda and Adam Beach and wife Alexandria; great-grandchildren, Aspen Ronkoski, Carissa Beach and Landon Beach and many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Lewis R. Oakes.
A celebration of Midge’s life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to Ozarks Kat and K9 Shelter in Sunrise Beach.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles.
