Obituary of Richard Allan Skaar
Richard Allan Skaar, age 74, of Gravois Mills, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021 at his home. He was born in Hixton, Wisconsin on February 21, 1947, the son of the late Ellsworth George Skaar and Florence Irene Skaar.
Richard married Annette Elaine Engum on February 18, 1967. Richard drove a truck until he joined General Motors in 1969. Richard retired in 2000 from General Motors after thirty-two years of service and was a lifetime member UAW Local #95 as well as a Union Steward for over twenty years.
Richard was an active member of the Janesville Moose Lodge until 2000. He and his wife retired to Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri and became members of the Osage Community Elks Lodge #2705 in Laurie, Missouri in 2001. Richard also was a devout member of Fred and Patty's Trails Inn Breakfast Club.
Richard loved to be a jokester, especially with his friends and grandchildren. He was also a good neighbor and spent his extra time assisting his neighbors by mowing lawns or various odd jobs. He enjoyed watching his Green Bay Packers play as well as making crafts and yard ornaments.
Richard is survived by his children, Jody (Tonia) Skaar of Dewitt, Michigan and Jamie (Heather) Skaar of Kearney, Missouri; grandchildren, Jacob Skaar, Cade Skaar, Logan Skaar and Hayden Skaar; a sister, Marilyn Moe; a brother, Terry (Karen) Skaar as well as many cousins and in-laws.
Cremation has taken place and no services will be held at this time. A Celebration of life will be held at a later time.
Cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.
