Rene Alice Renick

Rene Alice Renick passed away suddenly, at her home overlooking the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks on Monday, August 5, 2019. Rene was born December 11, 1959 in Garden City, Kansas. She was fifty-nine years old, and was the first child of Barbara A. and Robert P. Renick. 

She was preceded in death by both her loving parents. 

Rene is survived by her sister, Blair and husband Gary LaMastres of Lyndon, Kansas; her brother, Jack and wife Carrie Renick of Gardner, Kansas; six nieces and nephews and her beloved dogs, Romey and Bowie. 

Rene had recently retired to the Lake after an over thirty year career as a passionate advocate for survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault. She believed passionately that all people deserve peace, equality and safety and in their lives. Rene, served for over a decade as the Vice President of Programs and Emerging Issues at, The National Network to End Domestic Violence, located in Washington D.C. Rene was previously employed as the Director of Community Programs for Rose Brooks Center in Kansas City, Missouri and as the Vice President of Research and Development at Hope House also located in Kansas City. She was a light in in the darkness for so many people, her gifts to this world will be cherished and missed deeply.

A Memorial Service is planned for 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Garnand Funeral Home, 412 N. 7th St, Garden City, Kansas 67846. 

A celebration of her life is also being planned in Kansas City later in September.

The family suggests memorials be sent to Rose Brooks Center, P.O. Box 320599 Kansas City, MO, 64132 or to your local Domestic Violence Shelter. 

Cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.
