Obituary of Michael Joseph "Butch" Bayer

Michael Joseph “Butch” Bayer, age 56, commonly known by family and friends as 147 pounds of twisted steel and sex appeal, of Sunrise Beach, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at his home. He was born July 7, 1964, in St. Louis, Missouri, a son of the late Francis and Mary Josephine (Rademacher) Bayer.

On May 14, 1994, he was united in marriage to his surviving wife, Grada (Goodmon) Bayer.

He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Butch was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Laurie, the American Legion Zack Wheat Post 624 in Sunrise Beach and the Elks Lodge in Eureka, Missouri.

He stayed busy working and loved spending time with his friends and family.

In addition to his wife, Grada, he is survived by his daughters, Whitney Whittington and Sophia Bayer; a grandson, Weston Goodmon; brothers, Frederick Bayer and Dan Bayer; sister, Missy Motz and many other relatives and friends.

A private family graveside service and interment will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. A celebration of Butch’s life will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, October 17th, at the American Legion Zack Wheat Post 624 in Sunrise Beach. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Missouri Veteran’s Home in St. James or the Ozarks Kat and K9 Shelter in Sunrise Beach.

Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel.
