Etta F. Porter, age 81, of Versailles, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2019, at the Good Shepherd Care Center in Versailles. She was born November 13, 1937, in Versailles, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mabel (Ensminger) Hilderbrand.

On August 2, 1969, she was united in marriage to George Allen Porter, who preceded her in death on October 8, 2001.

Etta graduated from Versailles High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg. Etta retired from teaching after many years in Versailles and Stover. Following her retirement, she enjoyed farming with George.

She was a member of the Hopewell Union Church in Barnett.

She is survived by her sister, Ruth Hilderbrand of Versailles, Missouri; nephew, Fred Smiley and wife Donna of Versailles, Missouri; great-niece, Karley Marie Smiley and many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, James Robert Hilderbrand, sister, Marie Smiley and brother-in-law, Hugh Smiley.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 21st, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Graveside services and interment will follow in the Versailles Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Hopewell Union Church. 

Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles.
