Edna Mae Stanley, age 96, of Gravois Mills, Missouri, passed away Monday, July 9, 2018 in Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach, Missouri. She was born March 28, 1922 in Holyoke, Colorado, a daughter of Joseph Walter, Sr. and Ollie (Kight) Jinkens.
In March of 1939 in Haxtun, Colorado, she was united in marriage to Gilbert Clarence Stanley. Together they shared seventy years of marriage before his passing on December 30, 2009.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings.
Survivors include her son, Lee Stanley and wife Tanya of Gravois Mills, Missouri; two grandchildren, Bryce Stanley and Kami Macias and husband Greg all of Kansas City, Missouri; two great-grandchildren, Cooper and Parker Stanley; a sister, Mary Lou Holtman of St. George, Utah and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was raised in Colorado. After her marriage, she and Gib farmed in Colorado. Then after a few years in California they made their home in Missouri. They owned and operated a successful 488-acre farm near Osceola Missouri. She and Gib worked side-by-side in the field farming, milking their dairy herd and raising chickens. She loved the farm life and being a housewife until they retired to the Lake of the Ozarks in 2000.
Edna also enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. When time allowed, she spent time sewing, doing needle work and reading. She was known everywhere as an excellent cook and baker. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and later great-grandchildren. They were her and Gib's pride and joy. She also loved visiting and cooking for all her family and friends.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 13, 2018 at Kidwell-Garber Laurie/Sunrise Beach Chapel. Burial will follow in Garber Memorial Estates. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ozarks Kat and K-9 Shelter.
