Location Of Future Sidewalk In Osage Beach - Peanick Park - Highway 42

OSAGE BEACH, Mo. — From Lowe’s to Osage High School: Osage Beach is planning the construction of a new stretch of sidewalk, along a popular stretch of highway.

The City of Osage Beach Board of Aldermen last week voted to proceed with the planned sidewalk, largely funded by a state grant. Stretching 4,488 feet (0.85 mile), the sidewalk will run from Columbia Ave. to School of the Osage Dr., also connecting with Peanick Park in the middle.

But those hoping to stroll the sidewalk in 2023 will have to be patient. Per the city’s tentative schedule, the engineering contract will be approved by Nov. 2022, with the construction going out to bid in June 2024 and the construction contract awarded by August of 2024.

At a Board of Alderman meeting in June 2022, the board approved a resolution in support of staff pursuing a TAP Grant for the Highway 42 sidewalk. City staff recently received notification that the city had been awarded the Hwy 42 TAP Grant.

In all, the sidewalk construction is expected to cost approximately $607,488, with Osage Beach paying 25% ($151,872). Additionally, engineering and construction inspection services will be funded 100% by the City. The estimated out-of-pocket City expenditures (25% construction match + 100% engineering services) is $242,000. The sidewalk will be included in the upcoming Fiscal Year 2023 budget.
