LAURIE, Mo. — A Laurie police officer has been fired after an internal investigation by the City Board of Aldermen.
According to a press release from the city on Tuesday, June 2, the board opened an internal investigation into the Laurie Police Department on May 26, during which time Police Chief Mark Black and Officer Angela Nickerson were placed on paid leave. After Black and Nickerson were interviewed, the city says, the board unanimously voted on June 1 to have Chief Black resume his duties as of June 3, and to terminate the employment of Nickerson, effective June 1.
No further details were given by the city, which cited “personnel issues within the Police Department.”
