LAKE OZARK, Mo. — The Lake Area Chamber of Commerce is looking for a new director to fill the shoes of K.C. Cloke, who announced her resignation on Thursday.
Cloke had served at the Lake Area Chamber for five years, and will now be taking the position of Director at the Camdenton Area Chamber of Commerce. In that role she emphasizes she will still continue working closely with the Lake Area Chamber, but will do so from the city in which she has lived since childhood. Cloke will officially take the role at the Camdenton Chamber—recently vacated by outgoing director Trish Creach—on March 22.
The Lake Area Chamber serves 570 members at Lake of the Ozarks, and their work includes spotlighting those businesses and nonprofits, along with organizing key events with the aim of broadly benefiting many of them. With the Lake Area Chamber now searching for a new Director, board members say they’ll be looking for candidates who carry some of the key qualities Cloke brought to the position.
“The fact that K.C. has lived here a considerable amount of her life has allowed the Lake Area Chamber the benefit of her extensive knowledge of the Lake Area and how it operates, its growth potential, and the seasonality aspect of some of our businesses,” explained board president Angie Schuster. “We appreciate all of her efforts to grow and improve the Lake Area Chamber over the last five years. Experiencing this Lake lifestyle… from school systems and family life, to our local work environment and economy, to changes in our businesses and the growth of our community overall is imperative for someone leading the Lake Area Chamber. It allows them to understand how our community is evolving while also paying tribute to our history.”
The board says they’re seeking a highly motivated person who knows the Lake culture and business climate. The new director will work with the Board of Directors on event execution, staff management & development, financial management, and membership support and growth. Schuster said they’ll be looking for “vision, integrity, and enthusiasm.”
A job description and application will be listed soon at LakeAreaChamber.com for those interested in applying.
“It has been an honor working for the Lake Area Chamber of Commerce for the last five years,” Cloke said. “I am grateful for the many relationships built and the opportunity to serve our membership. Although I will be leaving the Lake Area Chamber rest assured I will not be leaving our wonderful community. Those that know me personally are aware that I grew up in Camdenton, am a Laker Graduate, and still reside in Camdenton with my family. It only made sense to continue my Chamber passion in my own “backyard” since the opportunity presented itself. I will continue to support the Lake Area Chamber during this transition as well as beyond since both organizations work closely together on a multitude of efforts. “
Schuster ended, “The LACC understands the benefits of this transition for K.C. and her family, she lives in Camdenton, and this will allow her more time to be hands on with her family. We wish her all of the best in her new role and appreciate that she and the Camdenton Area Chamber are willing to work with us through this transition period. We expect that our chambers will do great things for the future of the Lake Area!”
