LAKE OZARK, Mo. — Aldi has taken the next step in opening a location at the Lake of the Ozarks. The grocer has received two building permits from the city of Lake Ozark this week, which means that the next step in the construction project may be underway soon.
Aldi’s corporate office has also reached out to the city about utility information to share with their contractor, who has not yet been named, but it's still a good sign that construction is on the way.
“We are appreciative of the fact that Aldi has worked with us with every step of this process and has been asking us questions about how they can best accommodate our needs and they haven’t backed down from that," said Assistant City Administrator, Harrison Fry.
For members of the Lake of the Ozarks community, it's been a long time coming. After the 2018 announcement that the discount grocery chain would be coming to Eagles Landing, in 2019 the city said the development plans had ground to a halt. But there seems to be a second chance for an Aldi at the Lake with these new developments.
“It’s going to be a great addition to Eagles Landing. A lot of the residents who have heard this as a rumor the last few years, we hope they can be excited when this opens up and brings a great outlet to our town,” Fry said.
