Dan Ralston is a young man with a family, President of the Bagnell Dam Association of Realtors, and currently battling terminal brain cancer.
Dan had a seizure a little over a week ago, and doctors found a silver-dollar-sized brain tumor. Surgeons tried to remove as much as possible, but tests came back with the worse news: Stage 4 cancer with no cure possible. Dan is hoping for another year with his family. Meanwhile, their insurance coverage is insufficient for the sizable bills, which are quickly piling up. While the family works to obtain Medicare and get into MD Anderson, the Bagnell Dam Association of Realtors is coordinating a fundraiser for him.
The charity event is set for Aug. 16 at 5:30 p.m., at Lazy Gators. It will include a BBQ buffet dinner, entertainment and a live auction. The ticket price is $25 per person, and all proceeds from the event will help Dan's family. To purchase tickets, call the Board office at 573-348-4288, or contact realtors Ed Schmidt, Cody Davidson, Ryan Gattermeir, or Tammy Cannon, or Taylor Lehenbauer at Wilson-Toellner CPA.
A 50/50 ticket fundraiser is also under way, with fifty $100 tickets being sold. The winner will receive $2,500 and Dan's family will receive the other $2,500.
Ed Schmidt, a Lake area realtor who is helping promote the event, said, "Many of Dan's friends and co-workers are Realtors, which we are expecting hundreds to show up for this charity event."
