On the hunt for more inner peace in your life? Check out the practice of reiki! Learn more about this ancient Japanese art of hands-on-healing from Dr. Wrendy Marcinik...

Yes….. I am telling you I have energy coming out of my hands…… I am aware that sounds a little crazy so let’s start from the beginning. There are many hands-on healing techniques used around the world and has been for centuries, this is not a foreign concept in most areas. Here in the states, we are a little less used to the idea and have a little harder time wrapping our heads around it. Many of us have never experienced such a treatment and naturally are a little skeptical. So let me start by explaining what hands-on healing means. Hands on healing is a treatment used to flow an all-encompassing universal energy through one person to another. When an experienced practitioner lays their hands on a willing person, the energy is funneled from the practitioner to the willing participant.

Reiki is the name of the hands-on healing technique I was taught as a young teenager. Reiki is a Japanese technique that is used to heal physical, mental, and emotional trauma. The word Reiki comes from the word “rei” referring to a higher intelligence that is in all living and non-living things, and “ki” that refers to the nonphysical energy that flows through everything that is alive. The merging of these ancient words leaves us with the definition of Reiki- “spiritually guided life-force energy”. Reiki has its basis in the chakra system. Chakras are simply energy points in everyone’s body that control distinct functions and emotions throughout the body. A Reiki practitioner places their hands over each Chakra to help free up the energy of that particular Chakra, thus allowing the positive energy to flow to and through them. This creates an overwhelming feeling of peace and serenity throughout the body.

Reiki is a little different from other healing techniques in that each student of a Reiki Master is transferred Reiki during a process called an attunement. This process is said to open the crown, heart, and palm Chakra of the practitioner allowing the energy to flow freely through them to the person being treated. The attunement is the focal point of each level of training for a Reiki practitioner. During this process stagnant energy is moved and dissipated allowing the student to heal and be open to allowing pure positive energy to flow freely. Once you are attuned to Reiki you have it for life.

My personal experience with Reiki has been a long one. My mom introduced me to Reiki as a child when she was going through her attunement process. We were treated daily as children, and it truly grounded me as a child and allowed me to be prepared for my teenage years and beyond. She later became a Reiki Master and when I was 15, I was attuned myself, later becoming a Reiki Master as well. The magnitude of having Reiki energy in my life and being able to share that life force energy with others can never be measured and brings immense joy to my life. Although hard to describe at times, the changes and shifts I have experienced myself and seen in others, through Reiki, is undeniable. It truly is something to be experienced.

That leads us to who is Reiki for? EVERYONE. Your body knows what it needs, be it physical, mental, spiritual, or emotional. Reiki works on all levels to bring peace and wellbeing to everyone who experiences it. Expand your mind…. experience Reiki Healing for yourself.
