LEBANON, Mo. — High school football fans, racing fans, or just anyone who enjoys the thrill of competition won't want to miss a unique car race in Lebanon this Saturday. Camdenton Laker Football Coach Jeff Shore will take on Lebanon Yellow Jackets Football Coach Will Christian in a 10-lap race at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 22 on the I-44 Speedway in Lebanon.

The match race is a fundraiser for the two football teams and each team will earn one-half of the $10 ticket price for every fan that attends the race and turns in a voucher for the team of their choice. The race will actually be midway through the Nascar Whelen All-American Racing Series event, which features late model, modified, street stock, and charger racing.

For $10 adults can cheer their favorite coach to victory and raise money for their football team in the grandstands, or from the comfort of their car in the tier parking. Children 10 and under are free.

Laker Vouchers

Purple Laker vouchers will be available before the race at the Camdenton High School office, Jack’s Sporting Goods and other Lake area banks and businesses. Purple passes can also be obtained outside the gate at the I-44 Speedway at the Big Purple Laker Bus.

Yellow Jacket Vouchers

Yellow Jacket vouchers are available before the race from Coach Christian and Yellow Jacket Football players. Yellow Jacket vouchers may also be picked up outside the gate on Saturday; look for someone in a Yellow Jacket Football Team Jersey.

Any time the Camdenton and Lebanon Football teams meet up there is bound to be some rivalry, though both coaches say they're excited about the chance to help boost their teams. “My goal is to raise some money for the team, and promote the I-44 Speedway,” Coach Christian said. He has never raced before, but he has practiced once.

Coach Shore admits he has never been in a race car, saying, “It will be an interesting evening. It doesn’t matter who wins. I like to win. But most of all, we invite everyone to come out and support the teams.”

The gates open at 6 p.m. and racing starts at 7:30 p.m. The I-44 Speedway is located at 24069 Route 66, Lebanon, Mo.  65536. For information about the I-44 Speedway call 417-532-2060 or visit
