More than $80,000 will help kids dealing with critical illnesses, thanks to this year's Super Cat 4 Kids Live Auction, during the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout and Super Cat Fest.

Representatives from both powerboating events came together again this year for the Shootout Live Auction held at Camden on the Lake. A large group of performance boaters made for a great time and even greater charity event!

Shootout and Super Cat organizers were joined by Wishing on a Ride sponsors, OakStar Bank, and SHORE Magazine, along with volunteers to present Make-A-Wish Missouri with a donation check for $82,740.20. Funds raised this year included live auction items and direct Wish Pledges, which were started by Nikki Sorenson for Rusty Rahm of Wake Effects who could not attend the event this year.

During Shootout week, many of the performance boaters took part in the Wishing on a Ride event and gave boat rides to Make-A-Wish children battling critical illnesses and their families. Along with the many volunteers, this year’s event gained full community support from many area hotels, restaurants, and businesses who donated to cover the cost of the families who traveled to the area and stayed overnight. “Traveling back and forth in one day can be almost too much for some of the kids who are going through treatments so offering the overnight stay gives more families the opportunity to participate,” said event organizer Tiffany Maasen.

This year's event included helicopter rides provided by Tom Cline and Kimber Ott of Tom Cline Copters. Families thoroughly enjoyed this experience and the helicopter was booked solid the entire two days of the event.

Maasen said, “The funds for Make-A-Wish are raised through direct donations, live auction items, Wish Pledges, and the 'Round-Up for Wishes' campaign. The funds support Wishes granted to children battling critical illnesses in our region including local families, many of whom came out for the event.”

This year the “Round-Up for Wishes” campaign kicked off with two local businesses, Straight Flush Plumbing and ABC Wellness Center. Both businesses asked customers to “round-up” their bill to the nearest dollar, giving the overage to Make-A-Wish. This brought in a whole new level of donations to add to the pot and will continue throughout the year.

The Wishing on a Ride committee and Make A Wish Missouri/Kansas expressed their gratitude to the Super Cat Fest attendees, many from around the country, who come each year and support local charities including Make-A-Wish. Maasen also added, “So many children in our area are battling critical illnesses, and helping to support their Wishes gives them a better chance of recovering.”
