Two racers, a writer, a booming business, and the original owner of Shooters 21 will be inducted into this year's Shootout Hall of Fame.
The Bob Morgan Memorial Shootout Hall of Fame was unveiled in 2013, for the 25th annual Shootout: the boat race that has raised $1 million for Lake of the Ozarks charities in the last decade alone and brought hundreds of thousands of spectators for back-to-back days of high-speed action. Now in its sixth year, the Hall of Fame will induct five new members on Aug. 21, 2018 during a ceremony at The Stables at Cannon Smoked Saloon.
The Hall of Fame Class of 2018 includes:
-Michael “Doc” Janssen, racer, class winner, participant and promoter of the Shootout for 15 plus years
-Rob Lauer, an original owner of Shooters 21 and one of the original organizers of the Shootout
-Dennis Parvey, racer, class winner and participant of the Shootout for over 20 years
-Jason Johnson, owner of SpeedOnTheWater.com and previous writer for Powerboat Magazine, which was responsible for making the Shootout a nationally recognized event
-Performance Boat Center, sponsor for the last five years, including four years as the title sponsor. "[Performance] has made it possible for the Shootout to have donated over $1 million dollars to charities in the last 10 years," the Shootout Committee said in the Hall of Fame announcement.
The Class of 2018 will be part of the 30th anniversary celebration of the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout. Tickets for the celebration and dinner can be purchased in advance for $35 by calling 573-374-8400. Tables of 8 can be purchased for $350 which includes a bottle of the 30th anniversary Shootout Whiskey from Knob Creek.
