Each year, the Shootout's "Wishing On A Ride" event gives hope, strength and joy to special needs children and children with life-threatening medical conditions. At this event, dozens of Shootout racers give kids and families facing serious illnesses and disabilities a once-in-a lifetime powerboat ride.
In 2017, 152 children were given powerboat rides at this event. "Wishing On A Ride" has become so popular, this year a second date has been added. On August 18, Redhead Yacht Club and Performance Boat Center will be hosting, with the second date taking place on Dock #3 at Captain Ron's on August 22, both from noon – 4 p.m.
“Big-hearted racers bring their boats and give of their time and fuel and they take such good care of each one of the children, and their families, filling their day with fun and making it an unforgettable boat ride experience!” organizer Tiffany Maasen said.
