Channel your inner pirate at this family-friendly event during Shootout week!
On August 19 at 5 p.m., Captain Ron's Bar & Grill will host The Great Shootout Treasure Hunt sponsored by LakeExpo.com. At this annual event, participants of all ages dig through the sand of the beach at Captain Ron's in search of hundreds of treasure chests filled with prizes.
*New This Year* The fun starts at 5 p.m. with an Ice Cream Social Hour -- free frozen custard provided courtesy of Andy's Frozen Custard!
Then, at 6 p.m., the digging begins (after announcing the rules: pay heed!), as scallawags of all ages search for bronze, silver, and gold chests in the sand. All gold chests will contain a key, but only one of those keys will start the grand prize: a new Hammerhead Mudhead Off-Road Go Cart from Surdyke Yamaha. All silver chests are guaranteed to contain an upper-level prize such as golf and resort packages and VIP tours of Missouri attractions. Some bronze chests will come up empty, but most contain tokens for prizes such as pool toys, board games, restaurant meal certificates, and more.
Tickets cost $20 and most participants walk away with loot that far exceeds the ticket price, plus a free "Boating State Of Mind" LakeExpo.com t-shirt. All proceeds raised go to benefit Kids' Harbor and the Lake of the Ozarks Idiots Club, two local charities who help kids who are in need at the Lake.
Whether you come to the Shootout Treasure Hunt to scavenge or just to watch your friends and family frantically dig in the sand for treasure, this event is always a good time for everyone!

The horn sounds, and pirates hit the sand! There are 10 gold chests: 9 have a fake key, and 1 has the real key to the grand prize Hammerhead Off-Road Go-Kart. Twenty silver chests offer big prizes, and hundreds of bronze (brown/tan) chests promise plenty of goodies too.
