The Lake of the Ozarks Shootout is hands down the Lake's biggest yearly boating event where boast have been known to reach speeds in excess of 200 mph. The Shootout started out in 1988 as just a racing event, but since its move to Captain Ron's in 2008, two weeks worth of events have been added that surround the great race including several Meet & Greet events, the all new "Run What Ya Brung" Poker Run sponsored by Advantage Marine, the Mini Shootout, The Great Shootout Treasure Hunt, the Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction, the Shootout on the Strip, Wishing On A Ride, the Poly Lift/LakeExpo Poker Run, and the Super Cat Fest 4 Kids Live Auction.

Besides offering high-speed racing and boats designed to blow your mind, the Shootout raises significant money for area fire departments as well as Lake area charities. These local charities focus on helping the most vulnerable members of the community including abused children and women, the homeless, the handicapped, and the hungry. Since the Shootout moved to Captain Ron's, more than $1 million has been raised.
This year's Shootout will kick-off with the opening ceremonies and the National Anthem at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, August 24. Boaters will then test the limits at the most popular and largest powerboat racing event in the nation.
On Sunday, August 25 at 10 a.m., the racing excitement continues — and you don’t want to miss either of these days! Some years, the fastest run of the weekend has been on Sunday. Cheer for your favorite team at the awards ceremony at 4 p.m. on Sunday and the watch the new Top Gun receive the big trophy!
