As boaters were still arriving to fill out the crowd flotilla, Shootout PWC racers were already posting stunning speeds Saturday morning.
Greg Surdyke, owner of Surdyke Yamaha in Osage Beach, kicked off the racing with a 71 mph run. PWCs ran in quick succession leading up to the 10 'o clock hour, with defending champ Steve Lee winning the day. Lee had a 78 mph run, which was enough to win the PWC class, but was slower than his 2017 Shootout winning speed: an incredible 83 mph.
Shootout racers are set to run all day, until 5 p.m., with intermittent breaks, boat parades, and a race between an airplane and the Wake Effects boat.
