LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. — Two boats collided at dusk on the Lake’s Gravois Arm, causing minor injuries to one of the drivers.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, at around 8:30 p.m. at the 4 Mile Marker of the Gravois Arm, a 2016 Excel 21-foot boat driven by 82-year-old Donald Schrimpf, of Rocky Mount, collided with a 2003 Bennington pontoon, driven by 85-year-old David Dillon, of Overland Park, Kan.
The Patrol, says the two boats were approaching one another head-on and both attempted evasive maneuvers, but they collided anyways. Both boats sustained moderate damage: the Excel had damage on the port bow and the pontoon had damage on the port stern.
Schrimpf sustained minor injuries in the crash, according to the report, but he refused treatment at the scene. Both boats were towed by private parties.
