LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. — A 20-year-old woman was seriously injured on the Lake, Saturday afternoon, when she was hit by a pontoon, after falling off a PWC.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 49-year-old William Watschinger, of Scott Air Force Base, Ill., was driving a Yamaha Waverunner northbound around the 9 Mile Marker, when she turned in front of a northbound Avalon pontoon. The turn caused Watschinger and his passenger, 20-year-old Ashley Watschinger, also of Scott Air Force Base, to fall off the PWC. The pontoon driver, 45-year-old Michelle Ray, tried to avoid the two people in the water, but hit Ashley Watschinger. She was seriously injured and taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital, then flown to University Hospital.
In a Twitter post on Saturday afternoon, the Patrol urged boaters to “Pay attention to other boats - Look around before you turn - Share the waterway”.
