LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. — A Sunrise Beach man was seriously injured on Sunday night, after his boat crashed into a bluff around the 38 Mile Marker of the Lake.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 57-year-old James Petropoulos was driving a 2002 Baja Outlaw downstream, around the 38 Mile Marker, on a very dark, overcast night, when he hit the northern shoreline at around 10 p.m.
Petropoulos’ injuries were serious, and he was taken by ambulance to University Hospital for treatment.
The boat, extensively damaged and in danger of sinking, was towed and beached at a nearby gravel bank.
