Neighbors were awakened by the sounds of sirens, as a brand-new — still unsold — spec home on Lake of the Ozarks, originally listed for $2.4M, burned to the ground on June 9, 2026.
LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. — A newly built, $1.8M waterfront home was completely destroyed by fire in the early hours of Tuesday, June 9.
According to the Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District, the fire was reported at around 3:40 a.m. Firefighters were dispatched by land and by fire-boat, from Sunrise Beach FPD, Gravois FPD, and Osage Beach FPD. The house, located at 154 Via Cresta Dr., was destroyed. Authorities say it was unoccupied.
The house next door appeared to have suffered some damage as a result of the fire, and two men were there inspecting it.
A neighbor who lives a few doors down told LakeExpo she had been awakened by fire truck sirens in the middle of the night. “We all have ash on our roofs now,” she said.
She noted the house was a new build — a spec home completed last summer — and despite there having been several open houses there, it had not sold yet.
The 5-bed, 6-bath, 5,500 square foot home, located at 154 Via Cresta Dr., was built in 2025 and was originally listed for $2.4 million. The current listing shows a price of $1,899,000.
The home was built by Lake area builder Kyle Labrue: county records show the lot is owned by Labrue Development Concepts, LLC.
The investigation into the fire's cause has been turned over to the state fire marshal.
